For cleaner stencil edges, apply several light coats of paint rather than one heavy coat. When using spray paint, keep the can moving and avoid spraying too heavily in one area.

A stencil brush, sponge, roller, airbrush, or temporary stencil adhesive can also help achieve cleaner results depending on your project.
